1990 750 Ninja engine removal
 

Almost got it out but some direction would be helpfull. Don't have the book. Is it easier to get out left side or right? Do I have to remove the pan? Any tips appreciated. Thanks.

I don't know what it looks like, but if you can tell me what kind of frame it has I might be able to help you. Is it a full cradle frame lifts up and pull out the side, Cradle with removable link (comes out side or bottom), engine stressed member (drops out bottom) etc?

In most cases the general procedure is as follows:
Remove bodywork tank
Remove carbs and linkage
Disconnect wiring from clutch, spark plugs, etc...
Remove exhaust
If it is liquid cooled, drain the coolant and remove hoses and any bracketry
Do the same for external oil coolers
loosen mounting bolts

Things to have on hand:
A Car jack/Motorcycle jack a jack makes everything much easier to see what is stopping it from comming out.
A couple extra hands and eyes
some towels to prevent marring the frame.

For a cradle frame, Put a jack with some 2x4's under the motor and jack it up Use some towels to help prevent scratching or marring the frame. Also a couple of extra eye's and hands work well here. usually motors don't tilt from the right to the left too much upon removal. The main thing is to position the motor where the mounting "Tabs" are not in line with the mounting "Tabs" on the frame. Then gently guide it out the side.

^+1 in just a couple of jacks, and blocks of wood. With my engine, it sat on a piece of plywood that fits my floor jack. I lifted the frame up using ratcheting tie downs from the rafters. Then rolled the engine with the floor jack from underneath of the frame with the down tubes still attached.
