Default 05'zx 636 won't srtart

I've got an 05' zx 636, only 8k miles. I took a few days off from riding it, since it was cold, and took my car to work instead. I had to borrow gas from my bike for my car, so when it came time to ride again, had to fill up a can to fill my bike. I rode to and from work for a couple days, then refilled my tank. That evening when I got home, I parked in in the driveway for a couple hours. When I went out to pull it in the garage, it wouldn't start. It had power, it was turning over like it wanted to start, but FI light was blinking as it turned over. I came in and researched a few forums, it sounded like the fuel pump. I went back outside and tried it again, it fired right up. The next morning, same thing, would turn over but wouldn't fire up. Turns out the can had some trash in it, I found out after the fact of course. I replaced the fuel pump, since I couldn't hear or feel anything coming from it when I turned the bike on, and figured the trash in the gas may have damaged it. Now, here I sit, frustrated again that it still won't start. Any ideas?

What is the fuel pressure from the pump? A gauge is cheaper to obtain than a new fuel pump. Hope you did not toss the old pump. Otherwise, looks like a process of elimination in which you seem capable of doing. Double check vacuum lines as well making sure that they are not pinched, etc.

Welcome to KF and keep us up to date on your 636

No Dragone, didn't toss the old pump, since I wasn't enitrely positive it was the pump. Which leads me to this. First, this is my first bike, so still learning as I go. It appears I'm getting no gas to the injectors. I pulled the screws out, tilted them over as I turned the bike over, and there was no gas shooting out. I'm assuming there should be some correct. Although, when I disconnect the harness from the fuel pump, the fuel light comes on. Therefore, I assume I am getting power to the pump, which was just primed and tested yesterday by a reliable source, so I know the pump works. Is it possible I'm still not getting power to the pump? The tilt sensor wouldn't be affecting anything would it, since I did remove the tank to replace the pump?

Not necessarily. It is an open circuit with the leads off. Something similar to removing the leads to the exhaust servo.

Put your meter on the leads. As far as I know, the tilt sensor is not in the tank so removing that should not make any difference.

Ok, bought a voltage meter, definitely getting power to the pump. Also tried what others have said on here, and got starter fluid. Sprayed some in the ram air while turning over, and nothing, a slight hiccup, but nothing different. Still not sure why my pump would not be pumping gas though. With all fuel lines unhooked, and just the metal elbow from directly off of the pump exposed, when turning over, still no gas. All fuses have been and are still good, battery was dying from trying it so many times, but have it jumping off a car battery while turning over.

Well if you are not getting any fuel directly from the fuel pump and have verified voltage to the pump, guess what? A bad pump again from the sounds of it. Put your gauge on the line and test the pressure.

Still frustrated. Not getting spark and fuel pump not pumping gas. Have voltage to everything. Will a bad tilt sensor cause both of these to happen. From what I've read in the manual, if a tilt sensor is tripped, the bike will turn over, but have no spark, and not allow pump to deliver fuel. Will these sensors just quit, and if so, will it cause this problem?
