i have a 94 ninja zx-6 (E), my buddy just bought a 87 CBR 600 Hurricane and the guy he bought it from said its faster than my ninja, is this true?

Why ask when you can find out for yourself.

 

well there are several ways to figure that out besides racing. Think about it this way. his bike is 20 years old. your bike is only 13 years old. the technology growthin a 7 years span is huge. His bike i garrentee is heavier than yours. your bike is newer. I say hands down yours is faster

I don't think there were that many ground breaking motorcycleadvancements from '87 to '94. since both are the same size engine,I would guess the Ninja may be slightly faster, but it's not a given.

Faster where? On the dragstrip? On a road course?

Rider experience will count heavily at both, but more so on a road course.

If the debate is solely which bike is faster, you can look up some test runs on the 'net from cycle world archives or some such thing and find the numbers that way I'm sure.

Please, do not race on the street.
