MSF Sportbike Rider Course
Just took the Experienced Rider Course last Thursday and the Sportbike Rider Course Friday on my Ninja 650.
I took the BRC about a year ago and I felt that I didn't get too much out of the ERC, although they let me off work to go take the course so I can't complain too much. (A bad day riding is better than a good day at work!) The SRC was pretty cool. A little bit of classroom time in the morning and the afternoon was spent on the range actually riding the course. It was fun. There were only 4 of us taking the course and 2 instructors. 4 Ninjas, 1 Honda, and a much abused Hyosung... I have to say it was definitely worth the time I invested. I don't know how much these courses actually cost though as I am in the Coast Guard and the Navy was footing the bill. |
Grats on the courses, I cant say I mind that bill coming out of my tax dollars.

Congrats, it is nice to see the military stepping up to the safety in that department.

They said that the Navy (including Marines) had more casualties from sportbike accidents than casualties from combat last year so I can definitely see why they decided to make the course mandatory. I forget what the exact figure was but I am pretty sure all but two were on sportbikes...
For me the big take away was to gear up and ride within your limits. The other biggie was to watch out for the peer pressure thing but, I guess that kind of goes along with riding within your limits. |
