So my parents wont let me ride until i move out, and that is really getting to me. i told them i would pay for insurance and the bike, still no. ill take a MSF class i would start on a 250, still no. every time i ask i get a no. im 17 and have experience riding dirt bikes, but something about streetbikes gets them worried. i haven't gotten a ticket in my car and ive had that for a year and isn't that saying something? please help me i want to get a motorcycle.

yeah ive thought about this my friend jsut turned 17 and his dad is the coolest. he has been riding since he was like 5 and just got an r1 champions edition he said i could store one in he garage but eventually my parents would find out and i would be doomed.

 

yeah bro probally a bad idea, im full of themi wish i had some magical words for you to tell them but there aint. have tried asking ten times a day everyday?? maybe if you bug them enough they'll say yeah?

Gotta agree with Deej and Hoe; if you live with them, they make the rules. I think many of us experienced similar situations. I have a friend (I've posted about before) who had a bike back then, and I didn't. I wanted one in the worst way. No dice. You need to respect the rules, even if you disagree with them. When you move out, you can do what you want. I know that's not what you want to hear. [&o]

 

I have nothing constructive to add to this conversation. Have fun with the dirt bikes, though! I wish I had one!

 

A friend of mine was in the same boat as you. parents wouldn't let him have a bike. A couple days after he moved out the got him self a gsxr he had it for almost a year before he told his parents he had it haha. they still got pissed off for him having it but have goten over it.

 

Well as a parent I can definitely see their concern. You can still take the MSF course it will teach you a lot...and it will look good to your parents. (you can take a course that provides the bikes)...at least you are showing that you want to be safe. Start looking at gear etc....maybe if you let them get used to the idea that you are gonna be safe then it might eventually sink in.

Jodie is 12 and we are already planning on bike training because she already wants to ride with us. But we are making her save up for gear already.

 

Would they mind if after the msf that you go to like the superbike school? That would make me feel better as a parent knowing that some good instruction and responsibility is being practiced.
