Default Gas Mileage

I have a question for anyone who checks their gas mileage at least every other fillup or so and if you notice the "gas may contain up to 10% ethanol" at the station you get it from.

Have you noticed any recent increases OR decreases in gas mileage in the past few months. If so, please post the engine size and most importantly the compression ratio. I have the sneaking su****ion that this corn crap will help all us 10.high compression ratio folks out.

- Kawi ninja 250 Comp ratio 12.5
increase from 63 mpg to 73 mpg

My last fill up I only averaged 26 mpg.... But I rode her hard last week... Usually average in the mid 30's in town, and mid 40's on hiway.

Since, you posted, I am curious now. I am going to try a couple of different stations, and check results.

The 90 zx7 is mid 40 mpg range at hwy speeds (80-100) prior to boring and cammin'. The 06 10r sucks the fuel. Have not checked into mpg on the 10 yet. Too many hwy runs of either legal or beyond legal.

I'm also going to try running RON/93 in it this next fillup and see if I get a difference. I have calculated the average octane number increase of gasoline with a 10% ethanol blend to be an average 2.33 octane points higher than what the pump says. (Ethanol has an anti-knock of 113)

So..if the station has got it blended, add 2 points to the grade you purchase.

calculation:

regular gas:

87*(0.9)
+
113*(0.1)

=89.6 RON(research octane #)

Midgrade:

89*(0.9)
+
113*(0.1)

=91.4 RON

Premium:

93*(0.9)
+
113*(0.1)

=95 RON

we shall see...
