Caught a Break from a Sheriff Today
 

Two lane road really in the boonies, nobody in sight, fresh blacktop within the last month.
I'm toolin along and decide to slow down to about the speed limit and enjoy the scenery and this fresh blacktop is so smooth and it has these little yellow flags nailed down in the middleevery 50ft or so(to guide the line painters), still nobody in sight so i start zigzagging back and forth between them when all the sudden a sheriff steps out of a driveway down the road on foot no less ( he was out of his car enjoying a cup o coffee with some guy in his driveway) so he steps out with his hand up so i stop and he looks at me and says "This ain't no obstacle course" finger pointin at me. my radar detector starts to wail as i pull up to his stopped car so i quickly hit mute and act like its nothing. looks me over as if he was deciding weather i was a hooligan who needed to be messed with or not kinda looked like he was suppressing a laugh and repeated as tempting as it may be this is not an obstacle course and sent me on my way didn't ask 4 licence or anything. probably coulda got me for crossing a solid yellow line, reckless driving who knows what. Its not like we are not in a very small town and he has seen me around for a while so I'm grateful our first encounter was a pleasant one

I got pulled over last summer by a state dick and he let me go. I going down a somewhat busy road probably about 75-80 (speed limit 55) and he pasted me goin the way. When I finally saw his light bar on top coming at me, i grabbed the brakes and got down to probably around 65. So, I see him slowing and turning around on the road behind and I totally thought I was screwed. So, I pull over, he runs my license and walks back up. Doesn't say what I was going, but he says that I was speeding and I need to be more careful. Finally, he justs says, thanks for actually stopping for him and lets me go.

Hey Stone, stopping and respect goes a long way.....imagine driving a cage to catch bikes that want nooone to do with it......must be a pia for cops......between donuts of course.;)
