Default trailering bike

What is the best way to strap a bike (98 Ninja) down to a trailer? Are there any tips or tricks you guys can give me? I'm renting a trailer to take my bike to the dealership tommorrow and I'm a little concerned because I've never done it before. Going to buy some straps.....anything else? Do I leave the kickstand down and lock the forks? Any help would be great, thanks!

your best bet is to get some "soft ties " for the bars make shore that the trailer has somthing to set the tire against prefreable a corrner then put your kickstand down tiy the low side down first then tighten down the high side. if the frount fender is not in the way or you can remove it than it would be a good idea to put somthing between your lower clamps and your tire. not olny your fork seals but also your frount wheel berringswill thank you!

For real......I'm scared, sarge.
How do I put the straps around the bars without any "soft ties"? Pics? Thanks for the replies.

Tie it down from your rear pegs. and your handle bars. I just had to do this to mine Saturday. Put the bike on the trailer set it on the kick stand. Put the left front on first but leave slack in it. Then do the front right side untill your bike is straight up. Then do the rears. after you get it secure go around and make sure all straps are tight also leave it in gear to prevent any rolling from hard braking. Just a precaution. hope this helps. Just rock the bike and make sure there is not any slack in the straps. Good luck bro.

I found a picture of the first time I hauled my bike, notice that I only have a strap on each side of the front of the bike. Some one in here mentioned to lean the bike on the kickstand and get the front tire in a corner and start with the low side, that sounds like the best for a trailer situation. If I'm going to haul the bike a long distance I use the fork support and 4 ties just to be safe. Let us know how you did.
