1990 zx750-F4 Carberator questions

I have no manual for my bike and was wondering how to properly clean and sync the carbs.

Hmmm, without the manual it could be tougher, best thing I can suggest is to get the parts fiche to reference on the tear down.

Welcome to KF!

A carb is a carb, and welcome to KF.

Cleaning is all the same, it is the adjustments that may make one carb more picky than the other.

I don't know if you just don't want to get a manual or what but clymer i believe is the company. I bought one for my 93 zx7 and its worth its weight in gold. with shipping and all it cost less then $40. Just google 1990 zx750-F4 manual and it should give you a few choices. took about a day for me to find the cheapest one. bike bandit i think is where i got mine from but anyways check it out it's deffinitely worth it though in my eyes.

Thanks much guys. Yup i was trying to get it without paying for it. Bad economy, laid-off, money's tight....lol. Any, i ordered one :) Waiting on it now. Maybe i'll tear the bike apart now. My 1990 zx750-F4 has 42,036 miles on it. It's time for a tune-up.

I have cleaned them twice and i am having issues. It's like as if #3 cylindar isn't getting gas. or else it's my timing chain skipped a tooth or two. IDK. serious issues now. bike barely idles and chokes out at 4000rpms

Prom 07-31-2010 07:25 AM

Are you getting good spark? Any of the plugs wet/fouled? sucks when the easy fix doesnt work :(

rotlab09 08-01-2010 04:32 PM

I have pulled plugs and they r dry. I have checked spark and it is strong. I have changed plugs. The bike runs like crap and misses really bad with the choke on. Once warm i can turn the choke off and it still runs like crap. Then when i try to give it gas...........if i do it slowly i can get it to about 4000rpms and then it dogs and bogs out. tries to die. If i try to snap the throttle......it chokes out.

Someone told me timing might have jumped. IDK because i took the valve cover off, put the 1 and 4 to TDC and the notches on the cam gears line right up.......unless they marks don't mean anything.

My rockers are adjustable and seem quite sloppy but i don't know the specs for the amout of valve lash i need. Loose crappy settings on that might cause the issue also. IDK. I just don't have the cash to afford to pay the shop to fix it. 120 dollars an hour and it's the only shop around here.
