Default Q: Regarding Jacket I just got

So I got my clothes today! Woot!

One concern though, my jacket is a pretty "tight fit". It looks great, I just am not used to the feel... so this may be natural or not so let me know. The jacket comes about a inch or so shorter than the shirt I was wearing at the time. Is it normal for a jacket to be a bit shorter than your shirt? Secondly, the armpit area is a little tight, but not bad. Overall it's almost a perfect fit, I am just wondering more than anything if it being a little shorter than my shirt is bad.

And just to get things straight on the jacket (to avoid shipping it back) it does cover my back pretty well.

I took some pictures just to make clarify (my thumb is on my hib bone)

One other thing, what are some things to make sure my helmet is a good fit? I tried to pull it off by pushing from the back and it didn't come off. The only other thing I tried was pushing it from the front to see if it would come off. With enough force I could get my chin out but it was pretty hard.

Thanks.

I sell gear so I got a few years experience doing this...I cannot tell from your pics but is the jacket leather or textile?

If it is leather it will definitely break in...if it is textile it will get more comfy over time but not necessarily stretch (so the tightness around the armpits might not get better if it is textile.)

Length of jacket...depending on the brand and model...yes your tshirt can hang down past the jacket itself. Tuck your shirt in before going on a ride if you are worried about that.

As far as the helmet goes you want to get one that is tight as possible without giving you a headache. The padding will break in over time and become more comfy.

Roll the helmet off from the front when removing will help...you can also try pulling the straps outward while removing the helmet to open up the bottom a little. Once the helmet breaks in you should not have to struggle with this too much.

Hope that helps

Thank you very much for that informative reply. Someone said that because it's already just below my waist, it's too short because if I lean over on a bike it'll go up another inch. I really don't want to deal with the hassle of returning the jacket. Do you think it'll be fine? =p

A lot of sport bike jackets are cut to hit at just the waist...without actually seeing the jacket on you I think it will be ok based off what you have said but if you feel uncomfortable in the jacket you might want to try either a different size or different brand.

For some reason the images I posted aren't embedding. Did you see that pic? My thumb is on my waist.

I saw the pics and I think it looks long enough but like I said you have to feel safe and comfortable in the jacket. Your waist is between your belly button and your chest typically the narrowest part of your torso. Do not confuse this with your hips.
