Gloves
so i've been looking into some gloves and i'm not sure if i should get gauntlets or just short gloves. i found a few summer fingerless gloves i like and may get but what about for protection? i'm thinking bout getting gauntlets to ride, i found some nice leather/goatskin ones that are full gauntlet with carbon knuckle gaurds for like 35-40 bucks.
any advice? i've found a nice jacket, gloves, and some decent boots and i think that's all i'm gonna sport. i don't wanna suit to ride and regardless of what people say i'm still gonna sport my jeans and prolly shorts sometimes in the summer, that's just me.
also with boots, do u just get your shoe size or is it like with some gear u need to get a size bigger?
thanks fellas

hmm, goat skin gloves provide a nice feel of the front end and provides protection. I wore them for a few years with a good durability success. The velcro on the gaunlet wears out before the glove itself does. Not many offer goat skin though. You have a link?
They are leather gloves, just a different hide. ex: You weld with elkhide gloves? You prefer deer skin over the abrasion resistance of kangaroo skin? Goat was nice for me, pliable, and good enough for abrasion resistance.
I defer to the "bottom line" on this; your bike goes down or you get hit. The question is: What do you want between you and whatever contacts you? Regarding gloves, I prefer gauntlets because they cover up your wrist when your jacketvery potentially slides up your forearm. The rest ofit is apersonal risk assessment. For example, the people who don't wear helmetsobviously deny the accident probability/physical damage quotient. I guess Iprefer to err on the opposite end, by wearing gear to minimize the physical damage, because the accident probability is beyond my total control. It's not a matter of "if" it's a matter of "when." Dress accordingly.
dress to SLIDE not to ride.
this is not like falling when you are drunk, that you fall and stop right there, when you fall of a bike you are going to slide. google the "road rash queen" and read what happened to her and you will never want to wear shorts. or not wear gear

i seen the road rash queen on here someone posted pics.
i'm aware of the slide aspect of it, i just found some nice Icon gauntlets for 90 bucks i'm gonna pick up i think. they have armored wrists all the way up so that should work best.
