I actualy was going to get the 12.1" widescreen model from HP, it had that tablet feature with a swivel touch screen, but it was a display model. I decided to go with the 17" widescreen which was new, and the same price as the clearence one. The 12.1" model would have been cake to carry.

I have a Jansport that carries my 15" around, it would have no trouble carrying a 17" screen.

Go to Dicks (used to be called Gallyans sp?) sporting goods and look for Ogio... They make one that fits my laptop (don't know if it's 15 or 17 though... I should but I don't... never really looked at it...) and it's very ergonomic (don't even feel it, distributes the weight very well, very comfortable. and the straps can be easily adjusted even while wearing riding gloves).

this one should work : http://ogio.com/product.php?product=300

or they have LOTS of other cool pack as well... I've had mine (an older version of that pack above) for over four years now, and the only problem I've had is my books (college books aren't small as I'm sure you know) have JUST NOW started wearing the bottom of the bag down. a little pricey (I think around $60 if I remember correctly) but well worthe it...

i like using a backpack that has both shoulder straps and the chest strap between the two - this keeps it from shifting around at all while riding.

got mine from old navy

forgot to mention that... Mine has that too, and it really does help a lot. I couldn't imagin how much it would suck to have one of the sholder straps slip down your arm holding it back while you had to turn or something like that...

also try checking your local outdoor stores for the daypacks- usually water resistant and you can pick your size and strapping.

it has been pretty good, it is confortable and big enough to stuff a lot of things in it.
