Default exhaust difference between 600e & 600d

Hi can anyone help me with this question I have a 01 zx600e the guy who owned it before me did a poor job on making it a single exhaust he just hacked off the one exhaust and caped it off. I found a used exhaust ss2r system that a guy had on his 90 zx600d looking at it the bikes they look exactly the same the header everything. Does anyone know if the header, mid pipe would be different if so what is the difference? I've talked with dealers and Kawasaki and I'm getting conflicting answers. I'm just trying to find out if I could put this system on my bike

Thanks

Scott

Welcome to the forums, capadona. I'm no expert on late model exhausts, but I'd get my calipers and rule out to do some measuring. Capping off one of the exhausts is an "uneducated" thing to do. He's robbing some HP from the bike. Dealers are not always a reliable source of information, unless you're looking directly at a fische or a parts manual with them. I would think that the mid pipe (after the header) on back would be do-able; even with a little creative fabricating.
Welcome, again. Let us know what you find out!

Thanks Jeff I figured I was loosing something I paid 3,700 for it last yr it had 9k mi on it but I'm having a hard time buying a new exhaust setup because I know I'm going to be selling it in the next yr or 2 to upgrade but would like to find a cheap solution to the problem. I don't mind doing the work but the $$$ is a different story e****ally knowing I'll never get it back out of the bike. unfortunatuly I'm finding that their aren't 2 many aftermarket kits for that year and style bike.

Thanks Again
Scott

I think if I were you, I'd just search for a matching canister (or a deal on 2) and fabricate your own mid-pipe. There may be somebody on the forums geographically close to you who could (or knows someone who could) do some pipe bending. Heck, if you know what you need, even a muffler shop could do it. Like you said; no sense in dumping big cash into a bike you're going to sell in a year or two. Save your pennies for the upgrade.
