Tank Pad or no

Hi all,

I am kinda new to sportbikes. I have a Black '06 zx14. I am begining to see very light scratches and dulling of the paint on the back side of the tank where I lean on it. The problem is that I don't want to dummy down the looks of mybike with a tank pad. Is there a better way to protect the original look of my bike than a pad? Are there some good pads out there?

5 minutes in cyclegear (or cyclegear.com), there's a good selection of all types of tank pads, including completely clear ones.

clear tank pad

boom, easy

Doesn't fit? cut it.

I personally like nothing on the tank but thats me.

I have seen bikes with a clear plastic cover on both sides of the tank that protects the paint form your knees wearing the paint. You can't really see it until your up close and if its applied correctly it still looks OK.

As you might already know, when it comes to opinions you will never get just one answer. Here is mine:

I just installed a Pro-Grip Carbon Fiber on my Candy Fire Red (Metallic Ruby Red) ZZR600. I like the color contrast of the bike's red, chrome, black, and silver.

I did not know there was going to be interest in a pic. My fault. Anyway, I actually got the bike yesterday so I do not have a lot of pics yet. Here are two that I took prior to taking the bike home from Tampa to Jacksonville that show the tank pad just a little.

Thanks for the kind welcome.

For some odd reason, I am a fan of the tank bra...I know it's as goofy as putting a bra on a car, but I like the look for some stupid reason. I had one on my last bike...I actually just ordered one, so that's my $.02...

That's exactly what I was talking about a couple of post back, It's real nice if you want protection that you can't see.
