Question Kerosene vs. Diesel ?

I've just got this feeling that this is one of those really stupid questions...know what I mean? Cleaning greasy parts is best accomplished with mineral spirits, however, the cost is prohibitive leaving kerosene as the next best alternative. But what about diesel. I know it's not refined as well as kerosene but wouldn't it work as well? Are there drawbacks to using it? On the up side, it's available on almost every corner. Just wondering.

For lightly greased parts like wheel rims I use WD40 and kitchen towel - it leaves a nice finish. Anything else I use Gunk. Don't know if you have it in the States.

I always use diesel on the chain, its the cheapest and works the best in my opinion.

wow, I would NOT use brake cleaner on an O ring chain. Sounds like it will dissolve the rings and any over spray is disastrous to other components.

I'm sure your wife appreciates that.
