Detailing stains!!! Need advice.

My brother barrowed my zx9r, but before returning it had it detailed at a shop. When I got it home the frame and other parts looked stain. The shop said the would pay to have this taken care of. They are replaceng the rotors and calipers. My concern is that I think the frame is a powder coat?? There fix is to send it to a body shop and have it painted and cleared. Looking for advice on this. Is letting them fix it this way a good Idea?

I can almost promise you they sprayed an acid based cleaner that is only supposed to go on the wheels, which most "new" detaliers dont have a clue what they are doing, this will def stain everything the way you explained.. I would make them pay to have your frame polished, painting over it will work but in time the paint may start coming off.. and if you get it done the correct way, by re powder coating your frame, you will loose your bike for a long time because they will have to take your whole bike apart to do this..

So the frame is a powder coated? And the correct fix would be to have it re-powder coated? What would it take to have it polished?

to get the frame polished.. I have a good tutorial on polishing a frame if you want it, just give me your email and i will foward it to you.. or you could take it to a custom bike shop and they will usually do it, its pretty expensive to get it done though, prob around $1000 at a good shop to get it done right..

THEY PROBABLY USED AN ACID WASH,LIKE FOR YOUR RIMS FOR BRAKE DUST.DO NOT AND I REPEAT DO NOT PAINT AND CLEAR OVER POWDER COATING,IT WILL NOT ADHERE AND WILL LOOK LIKE @#$% AFTER ABOUT 2MONTHS.IT WILL START TO CHIP AND PEEL OFF.
