Default RE: Should I buy a Concours

I have 2 1990's,one with a sidecar and 70,000 miles the other I think has 126,000 on it.Best bike on the market for the buck. I'd stay clear of the new one.New models first year ALWAYS have problems.I've already met on guy tht had his tank sucked in (he says) on both sides because the crimped the vent tube for the tank.Looked real sad with two puck marks in the brand new tank. Can't go wrong with the original, tank rust is one thing to check, star spring on pre 94 models is the other.

Now that it's new and improved maybe I'll look into one in the future. My RF has a 937 cc engine and its good for long rides but not like the new Concourse.

met a guy the other day with a new 1 he loves it but he said the key fob sensor already had to be replaced twice luckily you can still use a real key if you have too.

Default Fishtails on hard braking

I'm primarily a Harley rider. I bought the Concours 14 due to sportiness and speed, while keeping the functionality of a touring bike. I had the bike one day. Was cut off in traffic. While braking hard, to avoid the collision, the bike unexpectedly fishtailed, sending me over the bars and into the street. When I healed from the injuries, I got on the bike again. Once more, the fishtail. Fortunately, I didn't go down. IF you buy this bike, DO NOT become over confident; and keep a safe following distance. The bike WILL fishtail. That said, it seems to perform nicely in all other areas. I have the 2008 model. Would not do it again, for that reason alone.

I know this is an old thread, but just thought I'd say that I haven't heard of fishtailing being a common issue on Concours. I have a 2015 Concours, and it is a great bike that I haven't had any issues with so far. Best bang for your buck around for this type of bike.
