Default Modifying primary sprockets

I've got a sweet 1987 KZ1000 Police Special. I don't need the screaming starts anymore and am considering changing the 15 teeth primary sprocket to one where I can get a little better gas mileage and smoother acceleration. Any recommendations?

Either that, or go down a few teeth in the rear.

Yeah, one tooth in the front is like 3 in the rear. One upshould be plenty.
