Default 1974 Kawasaki H2 MachIV

I don't know if it's a sportbike..........
I restored this in 1989 and have ridden it 200 miles since then....

SWEEEEEET RIDE. I love those 2 strokes. Buddy of mine in high school had a '74 750 and his brother had a 500. I used to borrow the 500 and we'd go raise hell. Lousy handling bikes, though. Couldn't turn worth a crap. They were good for mosquito control. Big ole puffs of purple smoke out the back.

Nice! I've heard those old 3 bangers were fast as hell! Your 750 looks to be in great shape.[sm=smiley20.gif]

Those are nice straight line rides with good power. As said above, handling and braking lacked. Richen up that middle cylinder and run a cooler plug. (Trying to remember what the guys were running with at the track.) The middle cylinder had a tendancy to seize.

Nice restoration!

NICE H-2!!!!

As I explained in the newbie forum (bought a new 250R Thursday) I am coming back to riding after a long lay off. Rode starting in the late 70's and stopped around 1991.

Around 1979 and 1980 I road raced a modifiedH-1 with a regional association. Must have been very brave or stupid back in my 20's (yeah- I am THAT old).It was a real handful in the corners, even with some frame mods. But when that engine hit the powerband, it HIT, especially with the pipes that I had on it.

Your750cc H-2 must be even faster. Nice job on the restoration.

Agreed, without the H1 and then the H2, there would be no sportbikes today, especially the Ninja.
