It was a good afternoon's work for me, but probably longer for bmwhd, since he did the first one and I had the benefit of his experience to go from. You have to remove the stock radiator fan and make up a smaller replacement. After some experimentation with what would fit, I came up with two 60mm PC CPU fans for mine. Bmwhd did the same (I made his bracket for him) but he found some nice weatherproof fans of the same size that should hold up better, though I've hosed mine down a few times and been through a few heavy downpours and they still work OK, knock on wood. You also need to grind off a few frame hooks and re-route the stock under-tank wiring to just outside and under the frame. That and a few other odds and ends. Otherwise the tank drops into place pretty well. The effort is well worth it though - the stock tank is just too small on this bike. Here's the fan bracket I made up for us. Bmwhd painted his black - looks a little better.

I think that is one of the fun things about owning a bike - customizing and making it uniquely suited to you. In looking through the photo albums here, I see a lot of great work that just blows me away. Stuff like 056r's tank work - that's some hard work there.
