Vulcan 800 carburetor problems

My vulcan 800 has sat for a while. I in the process of getting it up and going again, I have removed the carburetor and checked all of the pumps to ensure proper operation and ensured all of the gaskets and seals are in good shape. I have reinstalled the carburetor and conducted the service level fuel inspection per the manual. in addition i have checked to ensure a good flow of fuel to the carburetor. I conducted the throttle adjustment per the manual and still no luck getting started. If I open the throttle and put a small amount of fuel through the intake, the engine will fire and attempt to run. I am out of things to check on the carburetor. Any other suggestions?
