Oil Leak

I have a 2003 1600 Vulcan thats leaking oil from the front cylinder head....so I took the top cover off the head and where the 2 spring are there was a puddle of oil should it be there and the leak seems to be comin right across from the springs in front.....can anyone help out ..........thx Pete
