Default Problem

Hi folks, I'm new to the forums and my 1st post is a request for help.

I have a 03 Vulcan Nomad 1500 FI. Yesterday it wouldn't start. The battery is new. Before I drained the battery, it would cycle through the FI process and then when you pressed the starter, it would just click and restart the FI process. I was able to jump it off with another battery, and as long as we were hooked together by jumper cables, it would run. Is my problem with the voltage regulator?

Sounds like a connection to the old battery is bad and to the new battery if you need additional umph to make it start. I am unsure why the regulator would be a factor on starting.

Was that NEW battery charged before you installed it? Did that NEW battery sit on as shelf for years before you came along?
