wheelies
#3
then only way i was able to semi do one, was by dumping the clutch as mentioned by HD, but it is brutal on that little engine.. but then again once i got the feeling i was able to do it smoother, it was more of a little wheel pop, but then again i cant really wheelie period... you tube ex250 wheelie and you will find some guy that have done them.

For wheelies you would need to install a bigger sprocket on the rear wheel, I would guess around 20 -30 tooth more than stock. But you must realize that your cruising speed will go way down. With a sprocket big enough to really rack wheelies on a 250, your bike will be redlining at 50 to 60 miles an hour, roughly speaking. So your normal cruising speed could be as low as 50 miles per hour. You would also need a longer chain when you install the sprocket. To be honest with you, a ninja 250 is not a wheelie machine, and to me, would be a lot more fun with stock gearing, and hittin the twisties. That is what your bike was built to do. I dont know how long you have been riding, but I would recommend that you enjoy the bike for what it is, and put a lot of miles on it while improving your riding skills. Wheelies only tear up small bikes, and they are a very small part of true motorcycling. You have many years to learn how to wheelie. Get good on your 250, then buy a ZX600 and get good at riding that. Then start learning how to wheelie.

First off, this is the wrong section of the forum for this. This should be in the stunter's corner. Second, don't even listen to them. It's not the bike, it's the rider. You don't need a sprocket change, you just need to learn the technique. Stand on the back pegs, hit about 10 or 15 mph in first gear, pull in the clutch, redline it and pop the clutch out. It will be a lot easier if you preload the front suspension (push down on the front end) right before you pop the clutch. If you don't believe me, here's video of it being done on a stock 250R. This guy's wheelies make mine look like ***.

Rocket is absolutely right, but remember when you stand on the rear pegs, you cant have the reear brake covered, and that is all that will save you if go over the point of balance! I thought you just wanted to gear it lower so wheelies would be easier. But then, I havent rode a 250 in twenty years, and the old street 250's would not wheelie like todays 250's.
