then when i go on vacationi can take the bike with me [sm=icon_cheers.gif][sm=groupwave.gif][sm=icon_cheers.gif]
yeah that is the perfect way too. i have taken my bike on the back of my truck, but it is a pain in the *** to do it, and i usually need more than one person to help me. but a ramp awesome.
wheni had my pickup i would set a 2x12x8" wooden ramp (metal cleat on the end to keep it from slipping) and ride the bike up into the bed. takes a little to build up the nerve the first time but its not that bad. a second board to be able to balance with your foot going backwards down helps also.

UHaul has motorcycle trailers. Rent one of those, and follow the tie-down procedures listed here:

http://motorcycleinfo.calsci.com/Trailers.html for using a pickup

And...

http://www.sportutilitytrailers.com/...-procedure.htm

for using a trailer

Get some soft ties for the bike, regular straps will scratch it. That hitch attachment thing Kohburn posted is awesome!

I used to have a Moto-tote. It works well. PITA to load a bike by yourself. Easier to unload.

Don't get cheap straps. Get good ones like Ancra. I don't care for ratchet type straps either. I've seen them come loose.

Slab ***** ... lol.....oughta ask the moles how to transport a bike...we do it all the time

If your bike weighs 400 lbs nuthin can beat an Add A Bike Carrier ..... no tie down straps ...nuthin, I got one and it's great.... easy load one person takes about 15 seconds

Check out the website, his shop is around the corner from my warehouse, I can resell cheaper..lol.
