Default starting up a 2 stroke

starting up a 2 stroke when i start my bike should i gas it ? i was told i wasnt by a buddy of mine and he said it could rlly mess up the bike is this true?
any precautions i should watch for while takin care of my bike?:=

Never "gas it" on a cold engine. Get it warmed up before you gas it. I will blip the throttle lightly during warm up since I run them fairly fat. (watching out for my plug)

Always do a walk around of your ride before you start it and ride off. I like to go over the ride with a towel. You can spot leaks or find loose bolts during the prelim inspections. Chain cleaning and adjustment. Just the basic stuff.
