question for gun/rifle fans
I'm thinking of picking up a rifle. My experince with guns is limited to air soft paint ball and video games. A person I know is selling his Russian bolt-action M44 from Izhevsk. I know its got a laminated stock and side-folding bayonet. I know its a rifle that was passed out like candy durring WWII. Ammo is cheap for it. Would this not make a good first rifle? Aside from that I think its pretty cool just because of the history behind those guns being used in WWII. I attached some shots of the gun also.

RE: question for gun/rifle fans
I would get it just for the wow value. I mean it may have been popular at one time, but I think having a piece of history is certainly worth $60.00
I'm thinking ofgetting a Marlin 22 bolt action with the composite stock. (LR of course) Would be a great gun to teach my kid with. Plus bolt action waaaaaaaaaaay safer.
