Default Motorcycle Jack Problem

I purchased a used LARIN motorcycle jack. It was working fine but the next day, after cleaning the stand and sanding the rust of the jack rod with metal polish and water (I didn't disassemble the jack) Well, now the jack wont hold up the bike it just drops down after a certain height? Should I get the oil replaced?(I don't see any oil leaks) *I was told that it's lacking gas?*

Thanks!

Nothing to lose. Change or add oil. That pitted shaft may eventually be an issue if it doesn't seal, but you'd see oil leakage there.

I just topped off oil today. It does work*all the up with the bike on*! But after few minutes it gradually lowers down, noting to worry the safety holes does a really good job holding it in place and few pumps will gain extra hight! Maybe I will get the O-Ring seals replaced later for now this is good! Any how Thanks a lot for the tip.
