MILES
I noticed the most I ever see is maybe 30,000 miles on a "crotch rocket" why is that? Is it a lack of maintiance issue or just I haven't seen them? A high percentage are totaled, others are turned into track only bikes, Many are traded due to vanity (I want the newest thing around). A good percentage were being exported to other countries for resale.
over all whats the life expectancy when TAKEN CARE OF.

RE: MILES
I did 18k last year alone. I am nearing 3500 for this year already. I bought my 98 ZX9 in Oct 2006 with 13.5k on it. It now has 37k.
Many of them get traded for something new, or the sportbike ride becomes nothing more than a fad for many people, who buy them more for posing and straightline showing-off than any actual riding. Yes, quite a few get wrecked because of squidliness and whatnot, but otherwise - they just aren't very comfortable for a lot of people. I put a Corbin seat on, and do my best to ignore the lack of comfort otherwise Live to ride, ride to live.
I am gunning for 20k this year, and in less than 3 weeks I will be doing a ride around Lake Michigan (~1200 miles) over the course of a weekend.

RE: MILES
I have heard of people putting 60 to 80 K on a sport bike but that's with super good maintenance and pretty much babying it all the way. No drag racing, wheelies or burn outs. The modern sportbike motors are easily capable of 50 K with just keeping with the recommended maintenance. I had an old Honda 750 with 50 K and run the crap out of it. Even at 50 K miles, it would only use about 1/2 quart of oil every 1000 miles. It was hell to start for some reason but once it was running, it would scream for a 750.
