Default Living off the Land at JD's Fish Camp

Good day fishing today but no keeper snook ... 5 over-slot and one red over-slot too...damn regulations

Only thing I caught that I kept, because it swallowed the hook and could not get it out before I ended up killing it, was an octopus...damn tentacles were as long as my arm.

Me and some friends are crashing at JD's Fish Camp in Sebastian for the night and we have a tradition to live off the land....soooooo I had to prepare suction cup covered tentacles...

My buddy caught two slot reds....which he is cooking blackened so I have a backup plan of stealing them if I have too. lol

First, I cut off a few tentacles and boiled them in salted water for about 30 minutes. Then I put a lid on the pot, turned off the heat, and let them sit for another 30 min.

Next, chopped the tentacles into bite-sized pieces.

Next, heated up some extra virgin olive oil, a little butter and 2-3 cloves of garlic. Added the octopus, some fresh basil and a squeeze of lemon juice and sauteed for about 3 minutes.

Served it over a bed of linguine I found in the rental cupboard, with a side of sauteed red chard. Not bad at all.

I tend to live off the land too. Except in a different style. I hunt all my animals and grow my own vegetables. Freezer is full of greenbeans, corn, lettuce, tomato, bear, elk, deer, habenero peppers, tie dragon peppers, jalapeno peppers, green peppers, and frozen breakfast sandwiches
