Default HAM Radio

I forgot I even had these vintage radios - They got boxed up 20 some odd years ago and I've moved a dozen times since the late eighties. Bought the Icom's thinking they would help motivate me to get my license - I remember I had them hooked up to a dipole and would listen late into the night especially signals and propaganda coming from Eastern Block countries, the Soviet Union and China.

Anyhow, took them out of the box the other day, they still look as good as the day I bought them (1983). They are probably way too ancient to be serious radios compared to what is out there now - But what the heck, I still like low tech. Seems like they still work too, just need to stick an antenna up and the motivation to actually work on getting my license this time. Now that I have A.D.D., this is going to be a challenge!

VERY cool. I always wanted an ICOM, but couldn't jump in the investment at the time. I was stuck with my little Grundig World Band. Agree^, listening to some foreign airwaves is very eye opening. I got the jones for that when I was in Egypt for a month back in '91, and packed a portable SWB to listen to the BBC or anything in English! If you decide to sell them, keep me on your short (wave) list!

You can find some pretty nice and fully functional vintage Icom's on ebay for cheap these days.
