I actually trust the friction ones better than the ratchet ones.

redbrds experinence did'nt teach you anything?? i have had the frictions ones slip also. ratchit ones are fail safe.

If they slip its because you don't take the tails and do a couple of half hitch knots. It can't slip, and it only takes a second to do that. I had a ratchet one break, the metal on some of them is el cheapo.

I use the soft ties and hook them aroung the lower triple clamp thing. Then attach the ratchet straps from the bed to the soft ties.
Get some soft ties man, they will not scratch up your bike like regular straps.

id love to come get your stuff dirty..... just for the fun of it..... your the kinda buddy you ride about half a bike length in front of and to one side and you hit as many mud/water puddles as you can....lol
