***Calling anyone in Florida***
Ok
here's the deal, I saw this on Craig's List last night while looking for a car for my mother-in-law. I e-mailed the guy and here is what he said. It sounds too good to be true, but if its for real, then I thought someone local could buy and re-sell it for a profit
. However I doubt it's legit. Any thought on this? I'm confused....as usual. http://olympic.craigslist.org/cto/1096892095.html
Here is what I sent him
e-mail #1 to him
Do you still have this car? Why is it so cheap? How many miles? Thanks.
Hello and sorry for the late reply. I hope you haven't already purchased

Finally this back last night
Hello again,
The car is at MacDill AFB Tampa Bay, FL, where I am currently stationed,
until April 11th, when I will be deployed to Iraq (I'm a US AirForce
Lieutenant). This is why I must sell it before that date. Shipping won't
be a problem for me, being a military I have access to some special
facilities. I will take care of that, with no costs on your end. It will
be as if purchased locally. It will come with all the necessary papers
(clear title, bill of sale, warranty documents, user’s manual, insurance
etc). The title is clear and you will be able to register the car in
your state without any problems. This is a large amount and I would like
to conduct the deal using an authorized third party like Ebay using
their Purchase Protection Program, so this should eliminate any trust
issues. They will keep a deposit until the purchase is final, and you
test and accept the car. If you will not get the car as described, and
also a clean title you will receive your money back.
In order to use this program you need to qualify. I have been approved 3
years ago and I've been very satisfied since then. So, if you are
interested in buying my Honda just let me know your name and shipping
address. I will forward these to eBay's protection program and wait for
the approval.
This sale generated a great deal of interest and people have been
calling me all day long and the line was down for a while. You can still
contact me by email at any time.
The vin number for the car is: 1HGFA165X7L134766
Thank you,
Lt. David Richards

And why would he be advertising it on the opposite corner of the country??? The Olympic Peninsula is about as far away as you can get. I'm sure a Honda dealer would give him twice that much, this sounds like a scam in the making.

It is.
I know MacDill and I know the AF. They do not have any special provisions for helping you sell things and transport them, especially to civilians. Vehicle transport services are reserved exclusively for people getting PCS'ed overseas *to* those locations, and that are not considered hazardous assignments.
I contacted the base operator and got this response, after they took a couple minutes away for research: There is no one stationed here by that name. Is this about a car deal by chance?
Yeup.
Yeah, it's one of those Nigerian scams. I should have known. We had reported it to the IG's office some time ago and we thought it was over with. What was his rank again?
Lieutenant. It was posted out in Olympia, WA - near Fairchild and McChord AFBs.
Ok - thank you - we will look into it.
REMEMBER - if it sounds too good to be true. It is.
