Uk noob!
Thought I would pop my head in and say hello! After dreaming about owning a bike for years, for my birthday last week my wife bought me one! It's a bit of a project but only cost her £112!! Bargain! It's a 1989 gpz550 with 24k miles under her belt!
She has been sat outside not moving for over a year in the great scottish climate, but it's all good as I plan to do a full frame up rebuild on her! So no doubt ill be a regular in the tech section !
Any stories, good or bad, about gpz's and any hints or tips would be great!

Welcome, Scott! Sounds like you have a great bike project on your hands! Not sure of your level of experience; I'd begin with inspect/replace rubber items (inspect everything from tires to carb boots), complete fresh fluids/filter (including brake fluid), at least give the chain a good soak, fresh plugs, cable lube, lube all bearings--headstock to axles, you may need to clean the carbs/jets, and check valve specs, etc. The Gpz's are great bikes. Post up some pics when you can!!
Welcome, again.

Thanks for the tips! I tried to start her the other day but she just won't turn over much just 1 turn of the crank I guess at most even when hooked up to my car by jumper cables, so I've got her partially stripped and plan to remove the engine at the weekend! When the engine is out ill blast the frame and get it powder coated, then rebuild the engine and replace all the wearing parts of the bike, chain, cogs brakes etc, try and make her as like new as possible! hopefully get her on the road for summer next year?!?
