Default Thinking of picking up a 500

Hi Folks,

I'm thinking of picking up a 500 ninja 2007 for approximately 2500. I haven't ridden the bike yet mainly because it has expired plates but I did start it up and had a few questions. First of all, the bike wasn't started for a long time and it smelled like burning - is that normal ? And secondly , is vibration normal during start up? While sitting on it, it was vibrating and when I asked the owner, he said thats normal with all motorcycles. It has 4k miles on it I just want to make sure that there's nothing wrong with it and will hopefully take it out tomorrow to drive in an empty parking lot. What do you about the 2500.

To me, vibrating is not normal. Sounds like it is gummed up from sitting. The burning smell is the dust being burned off, check for any oil leaks, but sitting ride can smell once warmed up.

See how she looks and runs. Low miles, but sitting is tough on things. What does she look like? Good, Great?, poor?

Normally I would think $2k in stock condition.

Good luck. I love my EX for daily and for longer hauls.

The condition is great I think. No dings or scratches. That's what I think too about the vibration and that its NOT normal, but the guy said all motorcycles vibrate and this is when just sitting at neutral. Haven't taken it out yet but will tomorrow probably.

Welcome to the forums, the guy that says it's normal is trying to get you to buy it. Ask him if you can take it to a shop before you buy it, if he says no then say goodbye.
