Thanks for all the info I've gleened
Pick up the bike tomorrow morning! So psyched!!!
Thanks for all the info I've found and used already, before I have the bike!
Two purchases are in the near future. A 3.7 gallon tank and a Denali rack from TCI.
Thinking about a windshield for commuting, I've got a 50mile round trip everyday and the weather up here changes every 15 minutes, staying a little drier would be nice.
But first things first, I want to take a little trip over a local notch dirt road(read - mountain pass up here in NH).
Going to be tough restricting the rpm's to 4k!
Should I wait 2 weeks for the first 500 miles and a couple of oil changes to be done before I go up into the dirt?
I know there's a serious debate as to break in, but following the manufacturer's guideline got me 50,000 miles on my EX500 before the flywheel blew off it's magnets in traffic and inspired an engine replacement.
I know not to ride at a constant rpm for any length of time, but...I'm leaning towards just riding it like I would normally, except for revving the snot out of it.
Any thoughts? Without starting a serious debate, what results have people gotten from not following the manufacturer's guidelines?
