Rode many different bikes from the 60's to the 80's but the put the kickstand down. My last bike was a Z1 900. Now I am looking at picking up an abandoned KZ 900 LTD from a closed mechanic shop and will probably be asking some questions. On my old Kaw I could go to the frame and back but that was too many years ago. So in advance I thank any and all for your help.

Hey there, welcome to the forums. It sounds like you know what you want, but it also sounds like you might be a good candidate for the KLX 250. A lot of us in your age bracket have come back to our historical roots and went back into dual sport riding. Come on man you know you want to right? LOL

Well the deal fell through. Just wasn't meant to be. But I will still be around and am looking for a bike. Thanks for the thoughts.

If you liked the Z keep an eye out for a good buy on either a Kawasaki ZRX1200 or a 1100 Zephyr. Both give that more standard layout with some serious engine attitude.

Another great all arounder if you like the look, is the Versys. It has capabilities and accessories to go from touring (not quite GoldWing, but doable) to light off road with a change of tires to one like the Avon Distanzia. Great bike, great engine, and great price.
