As of early this afternoon, the current owner of my old bike and I have reached a bit of an agreement... he will sell it back to me. We haven't talked numbers yet, but I am sure we will work something out. Hopefully we can put the deal together before the end of riding season... but if not - there is always next year.

Yay....

Still gotta sell the wife onto the idea though... :S can't seem to find a bike to get her on for all of an hour. Anyone in SE wisconsin or NE IL help a fellow biker out?

Well, I just got some current pix of the bike... it's gonna need some work. Left lower and rear farings will need to be replaced, possibly the main center faring, front fender, chain needs replacing, a small leak from the engine needs to be tracked down and fixed, the framework and all the components need a good bath in Simple Green and the seat release mechanism needs to be replaced. It isn't *bad* per se.... the plastic is going to be pricey if I can even get OEM color panels for it from a kawa shop anymore... the rest is mostly going to require a lot of elbow grease over the winter. Of course I will also see it gets a good tune up.

We shall see. Awaiting a few more pix, plus will contact the kawasaki dealer tomorrow and get prices on the panels I need... then I will make a decision and work out numbers with him.

Here they are...

The right side looks really good... but the left side certainly needs some help. You can also see the level of dirt, grime and grease in it... as well as the collected grease in the lower farings which indicate something is leaking...

File size restrictions sux0rz

The alignment of the right lower and the center lower here has me a bit concerned... but perhaps just some tweaking of the bracketing down there will make everything line up nicer with the new left lower... opinions?

Also - note the grease buildup... the leak will be near here.

still more... sorry - any 2 of these images together are more than 500k

This is the tank rust I mentioned... can anyone give some insight as to how serious of a problem this might be? Can I just sand it and shoot it and it will stop spreading or... ?
