You can get gear at discounted prices from :
www.motorcyclecloseouts.com
www.tonker.com
www.newenough.com
All merchandise is new but discounted because it may be last years style or a soon to be discontinued product, etc. At a minimum I say get a decent full face helmet(snell/d.o.t. approved), gloves, and riding pants are a good idea. Riding boots would be a good investment as well.

well as far as all you guys say. i screwed up. I have never ridden more than a mile on a street bike, and went and bought me a zx6r. it was my first bike. i will agree though to get the right gear. I got A-stars jacet and gloves, and a good KBC helmet. I respect my bike though, cuz I know it has alot of power for a beginner. I love it and enjoy riding as much as I can. I put 500 miles on it the first 2 weeks I had it. But respect is the most important thing. You have to respect the bike, or it's gonna let you down, or put you down. Just be careful and very attentive when riding and you shouldn't have a porblem.

I think you need to read everyones post again... I know at least for jds636 and myself, we never said this! Know your limits and ride within them, take the MSF course, and don't skimp on your safety gear for you and your bike. Everyone always says to get a smaller bike first but no one every says not to get a 600. Get what you think you can handle and never ride beyond your capablities and you will be around to ride for a very long time.
