Newbie to be.
Hi gals, guys. I live in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, México; just across the Rio Grande from Brownsville, Tx.
I'm 48 and been thinking seriously in fixin' myself with a "multi surface" bike, even that I've never ride in one before or that I must travel 3 hours to get to the mountains.
After reading here and there ( my friends and everyone else here have street bikes or quads) I think the one I want is a KLR650.
Is like I fell in love with her at first sight. Every article, opinion, review, post, photo or thing I read or see makes me utterly desire her more and more and more.
Then, what appears to be common sense hits me and asks: Rafael, will you be able to handle that truck? Why don't you buy a smaller thing that you can play with? Why don't this...? Why don't that...?
I'm 5'11" and 195 pounds.
Anyone has an opinion?

Welcome to KF! I'm not too sure about an answer to your questions or concerns, but you could check out the offroad, dual purpose section here - some of the guys there will probably be able to help you out!
