Welome to the forum. Congrats on the bike!! As for the damper, I dont have one "yet", but it does what your front forks do except instead of up and down dampening its side to side dampening. Takes the "wobble" out of your handle bars.(front wheel) Gives you better feel. It also eliminates some of the vibration that leads to rider fatigue. This is all from what i have read doing reshearch. Im sure the other riders who actually have one will give you some real world answers. Hope this helps!! The 2 that i am considering is the GPR or Hyperpro. The GPR seems to be the most popular in this forum. The other one is Scotts. I have only heard good things about all three, so its your choice!!!!!!!

Welcome bro.

The steering damper is for controlling bar wobble i.e. the dreaded tank slapper.

Tank slapper can occur under hard acceleration when your front wheel is very light and starts hoping. With every hop the wheel turns right then left and is basically uncontrollable.
Your best defense is to do nothing and let the bike right itself if it can. If you try to fight it with your arms it will only get worse and eventually wreck you.

All in all the steering dampers will help stabilize your bike under high speed conditions.
I have the scotts and ohlins brand and have been very happy. I think it should be standard on every sport bike. Some manufactures do install them.

Take it easy bro.

BTW it’s a very good mod for your bike. Damper and a properly set up suspension should be your first mods. Or at least right after the pipe LOL

Welcome to the forums and congrats on the bike!! Thanks for using me as an example, there are a few of us that have the 05 in this color, which is the best and fastest color that Kawi makes might I add....[8D]
