I just purchased my first bike, a 1997 Ninja 500 and plan on taking the rider's education course this spring before getting my license. I'm taking this winter to do some work on the bike to get it up to snuff and familiarize myself with it. As well as take this time to research and purchase riding gear and what-not.

Is it quite necessary to fill out the questionnaire in the 'attention newbies' post?

Welcome, Nick! Bike looks great! (thanks for the pic!) Glad to have you with us. Good call on the training course. "Is it necessary" to fill out the newbies post? No; but it does help us get to know you a bit better. We're here to help, and just have a good time. If you have specific gear questions feel free to ask. You'll probably get more suggestions than you want.
Again, welcome.

I hate the questionnaire! We don't need to know what a person's fav ice cream or what they like to drink, I have fought that stupid thing for a long time now. Nick your intro was perfect, short and to the point. Welcome to the forums. Enjoy the safety course and ride within your skill level always.

A beauty of a ride. Congrats and plan on your gear while you plan on your MSF.

Thanks for the welcome everyone. I do have a number of questions and I plan on taking advantage of everything these forums have to offer. I've decided, since I can't ride until April, to start doing some heavier maintenance on the bike and I've started work on that. So I am sure I'll have more and more questions as time goes on. Thanks again!
