Hey all, I'm a former rider originally from Kansas but living in Iowa now. Used to own a 92 Yamaha FZR600 until my old roommate wrecked it, he's alive still. I'm gonna be buying a new bike within the next few months and need much needed Kawasaki/crotch rocket knowledge. Name is Jay and I'm 28, not a rookie rider but not a pro either. I'm hoping to gain some useful mature/educated knowledge and make new riding friends!

 

Welcome Jay. Glad to hear you're looking for a new ride. (Rule number one: never let anyone ride your bike. Hope your roommate is OK, though.) Also glad to hear you're realistic about your skills. I'm no expert either, and I think there are plenty of guys on here who would admit the same. This is a great, no-drama, plenty-of-experience, kind of forum. Tell us what particular style and type of riding you want to do, and we can offer advice. (Yes; I see you want "crotch rocket" knowledge, but tell us more. Track? Street? Stunt? Sporty-commuter?)

Hey Jay, welcome to the forums! I have to admit I got a real bad feeling in the pit of my stomach when I first saw your user name, you see back in the day we had a member with a username of Iowaguy something or rather, and let's just say he was a real piece of work that caused a lot of good members to leave here. Whew!!! LOL have fun here and feel free to post pictures and ride reports. Glad to have you aboard.

 

Oh I almost forgot. You are getting sleepy......your eyes are getting tired......when I snap my fingers you will wake up and go out and buy a KLX Dual Sport bike. LOL?

 

Deej, that was totally me, glad to see I was remembered! :-P Nah obviously I'm joking. I'm a smarta$$ once I feel more welcomed to a new group of people. Though you make me very curious, what did this other "Iowa guy" do? The way you describe him makes me think he was just very cocky or egotistical? I can assure you I'm just looking to meet a good-natured group of riders who are knowledgeable.

I joined here in 2010 and perused a bunch of the older good threads on the KLX250. That Iowaguy could really be a Dbag, personal attacks, baiting members into arguments, etc. He knew it ALL. Think he even gained the nickname Exhaust King or something like that.

Some of us can be smart a$$e$ around here, but overall this has to be one of the most welcoming forums with good helpful folks that I've ever come across. Enjoy!
