I ride a Stratoliner & a Valkyrie.
My V2K is broken and it's snowing so today I'm gonna play guitar & drink beer !

The transmission output shaft splines and pulley are stripped at 29K Dragone#19.

that is some serious crap right there. 29k miles on the ride and this happens all of a sudden? I do not get it obviously. Did the Vulcan 2000 have a recall on this or something? Because 29k miles is not squat for mileage.

They had a recall on '04 & '05's. Mines an '09.
The only "good" thing is my mechanic said to maybe think of it as a weakest link,kinda like a shear pin on your snowblower.
You would rather have this repair than a pull the motor & split it repair.
It was designed so this repair is easy although it's also expensive.
It cost $900 to repair.
No hard saddlebags for me now,I can't afford them.

Welcome, Jam. Yeow; 900 smacks is alot. I think I'd tackle that one at home, instead of letting someone else hurt you.
