Post New to the forum from NYC - Just bought a 2010 KLX250SF (im a noob!)

Hi, i am new to owning a motorcycle and im excited to join this community and forum, i would like to thank all of those who have contributed to this forum and helped build it with useful and entertaining information. I do have some question and i hope some of you can take the time to help me out. Thanks in advance.

I just purchased a 2010 KLX250sf with 5k miles, fender eliminator, carbon turn signal, DG exhaust and a terrible sticker kit on it lol. I paid $3,000 for the bike, their isnt any noticable damage on the bike, and the motor looks very clean.

Was the purchase price fair ?
Is it normal for the small white tank under the rear fender to be dead empty?
Is 5k miles alot for this 2010 engine ?
Is a DG exhaust respectable and quality ?
What should i inspect on this used bike ?
What immediate maintenance should i perform on this bike ?
What are common problems/ issues with this year & model ?
Is this bike considered a SuperMoto ?
Is this bike respected by others being that it is only a 250cc ?
Where can i buy a graphics/sticker kit for this bike ?
What type of gas grade should i use ?
What type of oil should i use ?
Can i raise the rear suspension spring up/higher ?
What is the best product for shining and cleaning up the plastics?
What is the best way to remove the graphics kit stickers that are currently on ?
What negatives are there when/after removing the graphics off the plastics ?

Welcome, Supa. Just a few questions, eh? If it was my bike, I would change the oil, filters, lube cables, etc., from the get-go. That way, you KNOW it's all fresh and gives you a reference point for the next change. "What type of oil" will get you a million answers.....that's the Pandora's Box forum question. As for your remaining questions, those are somewhat "owner-experience" oriented, and I don't own that particular bike.
Welcome, again.

Was the purchase price fair ?
That's not a bad price at all!

Is it normal for the small white tank under the rear fender to be dead empty?
That's the radiator overflow tank, and it should be 3/4 full

Is 5k miles alot for this 2010 engine ?
5 k is actually low miles.

Is a DG exhaust respectable and quality ?
I heard Muzzy was the best but that's because I own one. LOL

What should i inspect on this used bike ?
Change oil even if it looks good. You want to start out fresh. Look for wear in the chain, and listen for any noises that don't sound normal. Take a look at the brake pads and see what's left.

What immediate maintenance should i perform on this bike ?
same as above.

What are common problems/ issues with this year & model ?
Not sure, mine is a 2006, but basically the same bike. Cam chain adjuster seems to be the one thing that has issues across different years.

Is this bike considered a SuperMoto ?
Well it looks like its setup as a supermoto, but I don't really know about them. I think its more than just street tires. The rims are usually smaller and the suspension is set up different.

Is this bike respected by others being that it is only a 250cc ?
Who cares what other people think?

Where can i buy a graphics/sticker kit for this bike ?
Not sure

What type of gas grade should i use ?
I've been running the highest octane in all my bikes.

What type of oil should i use ?
That's a loaded question as you will get as many different answers as there are riders. I'm using Amsoil full synthetic and its working out great. There is also a group of people that believe that plain old dino slurry is fine, and thats ok too. Its all good.

Can i raise the rear suspension spring up/higher ?
Install a Dunlop 606 on the back and it will raise the bike up an inch. Most people usually want to lower the bike. Not sure on that one.

What is the best product for shining and cleaning up the plastics?
Simple green or purple cleaner on the whole bike. If you run across something that won't come off the plastics, I use Lacquer Thinner and a rag real fast and it works every time.

What is the best way to remove the graphics kit stickers that are currently on ?
Heat gun and patience.

What negatives are there when/after removing the graphics off the plastics ?
If they have been on there a while then what is around the sticker will have faded somewhat.
