New on Forum and a new rider.
Hello all.
I’m new to this forum and a new rider. I completed the Safety Course 2 weeks ago and went on my first off-road ride Friday. I purchased a Kawasaki 2009 KLX 250s Dual Sport.
Parts of my off-rode ride were very hilly, narrow, rocky, and a little too advanced for a first time rider. I’m 41 years old but in the same physical shape and weight I was when I was 25 fortunately. I just have more mental fear at this age! I admit, I was a little shook up after that day and had some second thoughts.
I would love to find some riders in the South St. Louis area that can break me in on the streets. (Not literally!)
I know one thing for sure. I need a set of Bark Busters on this Bike but standard ones will not work. They have redesigned the handle bars and I can’t find anything that will work on the bike unless you make major modifications like cutting the bars short. Does Kawasaki not make these accessory parts for their bikes?
Thank you and looking forward to participating on the forums!

RE: New on Forum and a new rider.
Hey David, welcome to the forum, the bike, the nuthouse and the all around great place we have all come to love. Just take it easy getting use to the bike, ride within your skill level, and just have fun. Acerbis pro rally guards fit, all you have to do is drill out the plug in the end of each bar with a 5/8 drill bit. Clean up the rough edges a little and adjust things until you get the fit right. Looking forward to a ride report and pics from your neck of the woods/streets.

Welcome to the forum. Can't help with your technical question, but as far as riding.... just take it easy and after each ride you will learn something new and your skill level will get there. I think it's always nerve racking at first. Keep practicing the small things in an empty parking lot too. Nobody is ever so good that they don't need to keep practicing.

Welcome to the KF family. Now get in your mole hole! j/k. Deej will be able to help you with about anything you need to know about your KLX. This guy has a shrine to KLX's in his garage that he prays to before every ride... true story (actually, I have yet to confirm that su****ion, but it's probably true). Gear up, ride safe, and come over to the slab side some time.
