Default new to the forum and to Kawasaki!

Hey guys ! First post here on the site . Proud owner of my first kawasaki. just got a new to me 99 kx250 . Upon riding it it has 2 second gears . Gear all the way down is second , one half click up is neutral . Once full click is second . Everything shifts fine . Is it possible that the previous owner has 2 second gears in the bike ? i would kind of like to get some suggestions before i tear the motor apart !

Was the motor/trans taken apart from the previous owners history of this ride?

I would probable break out the factory service manual, check the shift forks, and other parts with the manual specs.
