Well what ever you decide on make sure that it is comfortable for you and you like it. Good luck on the venture.

I was looking at the Ninja 650R. I am kind of short so I am not sure if that is going to work out. I went to a dealer yesterday and they told me my best bet would be to get the ZX6R. They said they could lower that one about 3.5 inches but the 650R could only go about 1.5. I may look around a little more and see what other shops think.

Welcome to KF, it's nice to see another female rider on here. Good luck picking out a bike. I have a friend selling a 650 right now but she is in Sacramento here is the link to her ad if you want to check it out
http://sacramento.craigslist.org/mcy/223597009.html

Just a note lowering a bike 3 1/2 inches is a lot. My husband's ZX6R is lowered that much and it does not handle well in turns. He did that for drag racing since it is a straight line but when we hit the twisties he raises it back to stock.

Kawasaki 650R seat height is 31.1 inches
Kawasaki ZX6R seat height is 32.3 inches

Both motorcycles are excellent but the 650R might be more comfortable for a new rider. The 650R is a more "standard" riding position while the ZX6R is very aggressive racing position. Go with the one you feel most comfortable on since this is your first bike. I like the racing position now but when I first started riding I felt more comfortable upright. The ZX6R has more ponies so that is the main benefit of that bike. I hope that helps a little I know quite a few people that have both models, you will be happy either way.

Good luck and welcome!

welcome nkeefe2288, good luck.
Knowing on how the ride will be used and being comfy with the ride are keys to success as mentioned above.

Thanks for the info suprakawigrl, glade to see I am not the only girl here! Most of the time I will be using my bike for my 3 mile drive to work. But my husband is into drag racing. He has a '06 EVO. If I do anything with my bike it will be going to drags with him. He is running low 12's right now but is going to be adding an alcohol kit soon so he should get to the high 11's. I want something that can keep up with him but that I will fell comfortable on.

Thanks every one for the welcome and advice!

Well if you want to drag race get the ZX6R it can be easily modified to get into the high 10's (with practice of course) and with a few more major mods will do high 9's/low 10's.
