then also try looking at the early-mid 90's 600's the 95-97 zx6r is basicly the same bike as the current zzr600. thats what i got a 95 zx6r with busted fairings but perfect frame and engine. paid 2100.
don't forget to set aside about 300$ for riding gear. (jacket, helmets, gloves, boots) 300 will get you some decent stuff from newenough.com and other sources (highly recommend a sparx helmet for best quality for the $)

Well, I was going tobuy the bike and while I was assesing the damage and doing repairs I would be saving for the gear. I wont ride without a great set of protective gear on... And I wouldn't mind matching my bike...
ALSO, I'm not really all that concerned about what bike I get. I mean it makes SOME difference. I dont want to get done restoring it and find out it's just an ugly-from-the-factory bike... But size, not too worried. I dont want to get into the 800+ cc or anything, that's a little too heavy for what I want, but I'm trying not to be too picky. I just saw the 250 as my ideal...
