Default hello

I guess I am the new guy in town. I just got my girl a ZX-7R and it needs some work. I have rode it, but then the guy I got it from messed with the idle and stuff and I can't get it started now. I know the carbs probably need to be cleaned and stuff, but I don't know if I should just sell it and look for something else for her. Hopefully some experts on this board can help me out.

Welcome to the forums, red! NOOO! Don't sell that 7!! Ask the rookie you got it from what he did to screw it up. What year is it? Post some pics.
If you still can't get it started (and don't burn up the starter trying, please) post for some help and we'll walk you through it.
Stay on this site and we can have you shimming valves blindfolded.
Welcome, again.

Hey jeff thanks for the reply. I don't wanna sell it, but I'm anxious to get it road worthy for her to start riding. It's a 2000. I took off the tank and looked at the carbs and they are shiny as hell, so I don't think there is any problems there. I did however realize that the reserve/gas on off switch on the tank is somehow upside down or something so when I had it on it was actually off. Tomorrow when I get it all back together again I'll give it another shot at starting. As for the guy I got it from I don't know where he is now, but I know he messed with the idle control on it. I'll post some pics tomorrow.
